I know a book is good when I finish it and I can't help but think "Darn, I don't want to go to that Alcoholic's Anonymous meeting! but I have to or else I'll relapse" And then realize I don't drink alcohol. I don't even eat chocolate with liqueur in it. Bravo, Mr. Burroughs.

Hmmm, what's Dry about??

It's about the author's' struggle with alcohol. It's a heartbreaking, honest, and hilarious tale by the messiest homosexual I've ever heard of.

LOL. I gotta read that! Gotta dig the fact that so much quality gay literature is finally surfacing - and being respected when it shows itself!

I don't really think it's the gay thing that matters so much as the struggles he goes through. Him being gay is just part of the backdrop. (and what do you mean no quality gay literature?! What about Walt Whitman?)

But Walt Whitman is just one of THOUSANDS of gay writers, and so many others went dismissed as "immoral" because of the subject matter. I mean, think about how Tenessee Williams must have felt! He seriously broke down some Puritan barriers.

Hm, indeed. That doesn't change the fact that this is an awesome book period and it would have been awesome even if the author was straight. So go read it!!!!
